Frequently asked questions
What Ihtiyati Backups keeps, what it can put back, and what it costs. If your question is not here, email us.
What does the app back up?
Brands, branches, taxes, customer groups, shipping zones, categories, products, coupons and special offers. All of them can be restored, within the limits below.
Customers and orders are backed up too, so you can browse their history and download it. The app has no button that writes them back to your store. Why not?
How often does it back up?
Every day, automatically, with nothing for you to do. You can also start a backup yourself at any time from the app.
Each backup keeps a new version of every item that changed, not just the latest copy. A backup only counts once it has finished: if one is interrupted, the app tries again within the hour. If your store goes two days without a finished backup, the app warns you on its dashboard.
How is this different from Salla's own restore?
Salla lets you restore products and orders deleted in the last 30 days. Ihtiyati Backups adds:
- Edits, not only deletions: go back to an earlier version of an item that was changed, not just one that was deleted.
- A field-by-field comparison before any restore.
- Wider coverage than products: categories, coupons, offers, taxes, shipping zones, branches and more.
- A restore you can undo, because the app saves the current state before it writes anything.
Can I undo an edit, not only a deletion?
Yes. Every item has a timeline of saved versions. Open any of them, compare it with what is live in your store, field by field, and restore it if you want it back.
Can I restore the whole store at once?
Yes. You can put the whole store, or only the kinds of item you choose, back to how it was at the moment of any finished backup. Items you have created since are left as they are.
When what you restore needs something that has since been deleted, such as the products in a special offer or a product's categories, the app restores that too, and names it before you confirm.
Can I undo a restore?
Yes. Before anything is written, the app saves the current state of every item it is about to change, so a restore itself can be reversed.
What cannot be restored?
- The contents of digital files and digital codes: Salla provides no way for any app to read them back, so they cannot be backed up. Their names and sizes are kept.
- Stock quantities: they are kept but never restored, so a restore cannot roll your stock back to an old number and let you sell what has run out. A deleted product comes back at quantity zero until you set its stock.
- A deleted coupon that had product, category, customer or country limits comes back without them, because Salla does not let an app write them, so it is valid for the whole store. Check it before you enable it. Editing an existing coupon leaves its limits alone.
- A special offer that was limited to countries or customer groups comes back without that limit, so it applies to everyone.
- A deleted branch whose national address details are incomplete cannot be recreated, because Salla refuses it, and the app tells you so.
- Restoring a single product does not bring back its category or brand if they have been deleted, and restoring them afterwards does not reattach them. Restore those first, or restore them together with a whole-store restore.
- Some fields are accepted by Salla and not stored, and some depend on your Salla plan. Anything that cannot be restored is marked in the comparison and reaches you in full through the export file.
Why are customers and orders not restored?
An order is a record of something that happened, and rewriting one would claim a sale that did not. Both are kept so you can see what changed, and you can download any saved version.
A customer's record belongs to that person, so the app has no screen that writes it back. If you do need customers restored, email us and we will restore the ones you name.
Can I download my data?
Yes, one item at a time. Any saved version of any item, customers and orders included, downloads as a JSON file exactly as it was backed up, with the fields that cannot be restored. Downloading the whole store in one file is not available yet.
Does the app change my store on its own?
No. Backing up only reads your store. The app writes to your store only when you start a restore, and only what that restore covers.
How much does it cost?
There are four monthly plans, sized by how many items the app holds for your store. The first 7 days are free. You choose a plan in Salla's App Store when you install the app, and change it there.
| Plan | Items | SAR a month | Extra items |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1,000 | 19 | 500 for SAR 9 |
| Growth | 15,000 | 149 | 5,000 for SAR 49 |
| Pro | 150,000 | 799 | 50,000 for SAR 249 |
| Business | 600,000 | 2,999 | 300,000 for SAR 799 |
Prices exclude VAT. Extra items are added in blocks, chosen with the plan, so a store can grow between plans without moving up.
What counts as an item?
Every product, category, coupon, special offer, brand, branch, tax, customer group and shipping zone the app holds for your store, including ones you have since deleted, and every order and customer it has backed up. Versions do not count: a product edited ten times is one item.
What happens if my store outgrows its plan?
The app warns you when your store reaches 80% of its plan. If it goes over, you have 14 days to move to a larger plan or add extra items. After that, new backups pause until you do. Moving to a plan smaller than your store, or reinstalling onto one, pauses them at once. Either way, restoring and downloading keep working, and nothing is deleted.
What happens if my plan ends?
If your subscription ends, or your free trial runs out without one, backups, restores and downloads all stop. Nothing is deleted, so if you subscribe again, everything already backed up is there as before.
How is my data protected, and how long is it kept?
Your store's data is encrypted at rest, and is only read to run a backup, show a comparison, or perform a restore or export you ask for. It is kept while the app is installed and destroyed 90 days after you uninstall it, with the last copies in our database backups gone within seven more days. The rest is in the privacy policy.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Backups of your store stop at once. What was already backed up is kept for 90 days, and reinstalling within that time brings all of it back. After 90 days it is destroyed, and the last copies in our database backups are gone within seven more days. See the privacy policy.
